Discover Cashback Category Update

by Chris for creditRPM

Discover cardholders can earn 5% cash rewards in select spending categories throughout the year. This page will update as the categories change.

June 2009 Update:

Discover has updated their 5% Cashback Bonus site with some great categories. For the month of June, cardholders can earn 5% cashback bonus rewards at restaurants with a $200 cap in purchases. According to the fine print, the bonuses can be earned at "full-service restaurants, cafes, cafeterias and fast food locations". Chipotle here I come!

For the period starting in July through September the 5% bonus is for gas, hotels, and theme parks. Just in time for the travel season and as gas prices increase, this is a warm welcome to summer. The earnings are capped at $300 in purchases so if you 'max' it out, you're earning $15.

Log in to your DiscoverCard account to sign up for the bonus. Remember, these earnings are NOT automatic!
